However, basic hypnotherapy certification is generally not enough preparation to hanlde complex client issues. In oreder to become an adequately skilled hypnotherapist, one must self-study and take more classes beyond basic certification courses. This could take several months or 2-3 years, depending on what skill levels you wish to achieve.

You do not need a special voice to hypnotize people. However, you should understand and use the strengths/weaknesses of your own voice characteristics.

Learning hypnotherapy can be a long process if you plan to practice it effectively and safely. You must first learn how to hypnotize people (which is easy). The difficult and time consuming part is learning how to properly form/use suggestions and to effectively, safely and ethically handle various issues presented by hypnotherapy clients.

You can obtain a basic hypnotherapy certification with reputable ociations once you’ve completed at least 150-300 hours of study. (Continued below)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Thought Field Therapy (TFT) work for those who have been appropriately prepped and handled by a skilled EFT/TFT practitioner. However, I prefer using pure pypnosis techniques with my clients.

I tend to stay away from esoteric methods due mainly to the fact that I’ve consistently helped my clients achieve and exceed their goals/expectations using pure hypnosis. I am familiar with EFT/TFT, but I prefer using hypnosis. (Continued below)

Goodness knows I’ve successfully hypnotized my share of non-believers (See my “Officer Down!” video and the accompanying text for an example). However, the best policy for a hypnotist is not to engage a person who is attempting to prove s/he “Can’t be hypnotized.” If you’re a good hypnotist, you should already know that you can hypnotize people.

Advice to new hypnotists: walk away from people who incredulously “challenge” you, and you’ll find they end up begging you to hypnotize them.

It’s tempting for hypnotists to accept such a “challenge” because people who pose such challenges often secretly want to be hypnotized and are often the ones who go deepest in to hypnosis–when they are handled correclty (resistant subject techniques).

Generally, if someone wants to be hypnotized, s/he easily can be hypnotized, especially when working one-on-one with a skilled hypnotist. If a person is interested in finding ways to avoid being hypnotized just to defeat the process, then it’s a waste of time for both the hypnotist and the volunteer.

If you challenge a good hypnotist by saying “You can’t hypnotize me!” his/her response will usually be to quote Henry Ford, “Whether you think you can, or think you cant, you’re right.”
