I think logansGT is genuinely trying to be funny and get a debate going over what is essentially the musical equivalent of 1+1=3.
A slide sax does exist but clearly isnt a brass instrument…

They were playing …
They were playing at MaiJazz yesterday (saturday). I never heard them before and god it! They were awesome! They told the crowd to get low in a smooth way, and they pulled in the crowd in their songs. The concert was great! Great soloes and especially the drumming solo. That experience was so cool

Shirley…I mean …
Shirley…I mean SURELY you jest, inthemoody.
It’s hard to believe that there’s so many ignorant people leaving these misinformed comments. How can y’all be so confused?
It’s simple….a saxophone has three valves and a slide saxophone has no valves.
Here in Kazakhstan, the slide saxophone is all the rage.
I came here for a 6 month gig at Studio Goatstuff. It was very difficult trying to be successful in the U.S. but here in Kazakhstan, I’m a star.
I’m finally appreciated….at last !
That was directed …
That was directed at Logan, btw.
The slide saxophone …
The slide saxophone is a defunct instrument no longer used in mainstream jazz. Are you from Mexico? I could imagine that if you are using a language translator to change your text from spanish to english that the system may have switched the words “trumpet” with “saxophone.” Otherwise, I’m afraid sir, that you are just simply, hopelessly, retarded. Good day.
Yes, Suiram, …
Yes, Suiram, saxHORN is a good name for it. Why didn’t I think of that?
From now on, I’m gonna call my slide saxophone a saxHORN !
(Unless I’m using it as an axe)
logansGT’s …
logansGT’s saxophone = saxHORN
The saxophone (also …
The saxophone (also referred to simply as sax) is a conical-bored transposing musical instrument considered a member of the woodwind family. Saxophones are usually made of brass and are played with a single-reed mouthpiece similar to the clarinet.
A sax is a woodwind …
A sax is a woodwind instrument…. NOT A BRASS!!!
sick indeed
sick indeed
Bemy - At the risk …
Bemy - At the risk of sounding like a know-it-all, I was a child prodigy and a student at Julliard when I was 9 years old.
Being a slide saxophone virtuoso, I think that I should know what I’m talking about.
Don’t despair, though. The nice people in the pharmaseutical companies have meds that could help you.
Btw…..here’s a tip for any of you aspiring slide saxophone players. Try using a La Voz Medium Hard trombone reed on an older model HR Berg 100/1 mouthpiece.
Works great for me !
I don’t want to be …
I don’t want to be rude, or anything like that, but i don’t agree more. I’m pretty sure that saxophone isn’t a brass, and that Chet Baker played trumpet, as Miles did. Saxophone players are such as Sonny Rollins, Paul Desmond, Coltrane, Parker… You could get mixed up between soprano saxophone (straight) and trumpet, but it’s not difficult to see the difference by eyes and ears. Then, tenor saxophone is very different from trumpet. See you.
Thanks, Bemy, for …
Thanks, Bemy, for being so civil but unfortunately, you’re so misinformed.
Everybody, (well, almost everybody,) knows that a saxophone has three valves. As you can clearly see in the Hypnotic Reed Ensemble, almost all of them are playing saxophones, except for the drummer and that dude playing slide saxophone.
I like listening to the screech saxophone players. Some of my favorites are Maynard Ferguson, Jon Faddis and the king of mad, out-of-this-world screech saxophonists….Chet Baker !!!
Hum…Excuse me, …
Hum…Excuse me, but, Miles Davis played trumpet, and he’s unfortunately dead now.
also, there is no saxophone in this band.
i think im the only …
i think im the only person that doesnt like them,AND IM GUTTED THAT I DONT COS I REALLY WANTED TO! its like the musical equivalent of bread and butter… good bread..tasty bit of butter…but no filling… wheres the JAM?!
